Know More About me

During my undergraduate studies in Fine Arts, I explored mixed works such as installations that are exhibited in large spaces and incorporate other media like sculpture, sound, textiles, wax, resin, elements of nature such as leaves, flowers, textiles, stones and more.

Most often, the work takes the form of an installation consisting of simple geometric shapes that are displayed on a larger scale in space. 3D materials, sculptures, interpretive components, videography, storytelling and textiles can be used as elements in installations. All the environments used are surrounded by the same subject, which are family histories and intergenerational traumas, which are at the same time the key themes.

Spaces are really inspiring because they allow to be rearranged and change the context of the subject. Spaces allow me to experiment and create an immersive environment for what I want to communicate.

I hope to honor the subconscious human world through art and to discover common bridges to be crossed in our healing and integration from our pasts, traumas and family legacy histories.

Biography

I am a Romanian-born, London-based multidisciplinary artist. I chose to study Fine art at Middlesex University because I wanted to further explore and develop my creative vision in the field of makeup artistry.

One of my favourite activities  was dancing and making things with my hands, which I remember from a young age. I was also quite resourceful and could come up with creative ways to fix various broken household goods, which came in help when I got into trouble. Meanwhile, I excelled in literature at school, particularly poetry and essay writing, and because of my early romantic experiences, I began composing lyrics that were typically nostalgic and melancholic.

I used to be able to connect to some forms of art even though I was living in a little Romanian town. For instance, I remember that my mother engaged me in a few extracurricular activities like contemporary dance classes, gymnastics, painting class or modelling and acting. I didn’t really study any of those but one of my best times from high school was being part of the school amateur acting team with whom I could travel across the country for different competitions.

Getting together with my friends was another activity I enjoyed as a teenager, and I always looked forward to the end because I used to photoshoot them, to create outfits and apply different makeup looks; therefore, aesthetic and creating something or somebody beautiful have always been one of my real passions.

After graduating from high school, I confronted the reality that I didn’t enjoy studying Pharmacy, so I continued to do makeup instead. A decision that was maybe too important for me at that age, but I took it without regrets. To gain additional experience in the beauty industry I entered the beauty industry, working for different makeup brands but in the meantime trying to build my freelance jobs such as: collaborations in various art environments and events like theatre, singer concerts, advertising.

Meanwhile, I was completing my bachelor’s degree in journalism due to my love for writing, and I also continued to explore art through photography, videography, and the incorporation of the body in the works, rather than the face.

At age 25, I made the decision to move in London with the intention of exploring the artistic potential from my makeup world, which I did: I enrolled as a Fine Art student at Middlesex University.

Now, I can describe myself as an interdisciplinary artist who’s working across different types of media that are involving aspects of storytelling and personal intergenerational trauma no matter what media I’m working on.

Spaces are highly inspiring; I enjoy decorating and rearranging them. Most of the time, the work takes the shape of an installation, which is exhibited on a bigger scale using sculpture, storytelling, textile, photography, videography, sound, and performing elements.

Memory, time, family history and trauma, as well as feminine, are the key themes explored in my works. Through the works, my intent is to honour the inner world of the human and create a connection between us all.
